Introduction

Basically, atmospheric pollution could refer to the introduction of toxic substances such biological molecules and other harmful gases, which cause great damage and death to living organisms. Many forms of atmospheric pollution negatively impacts on the human survival and the environment from local to global levels. Once the atmosphere is polluted the entire globe is plunged to chaos especially based on survival concept. It really interferes with the normal functioning of the atmospheric processes such as precipitation among others. Most atmospheric studies have carried out to elaborate on the rate at which air pollution takes place hence, making it a bit problematic to fully address and conquer the problem.

For instance, according to the USA air reports…. “We live in a world where unfortunately the distinction between true and false appears to become increasingly blurred by manipulation of facts, by exploitation of uncritical minds, and by the pollution of the language (Jacobson, 2002)”

In this research paper, a critical analysis has been done reflecting on the funding process for "atmospheric pollution" as one of the social problems around the world.

Atmospheric pollution has been problematic for the recent decades hence, threatening the human survival. Therefore as an environmental researcher I would like to allocate funds for this entire process of ensuring environmental safety through curbing the issue of atmospheric pollution. The main reason as to why I choose to fund this environmental problem is because of its long term severity especially on humanity and other living organisms.

It is quite clear that whether indoors or outdoors, air pollution subjects millions of people to health related risks hence, making human survival to be very hectic and unbearable. For instance, millions of millions of Americans are vulnerable to contracting asthma, heart diseases, emphysema and other lethal medical related diseases, which turn out to be very costly and demanding. However, since the year 1970s the environmental protection has always tried to mitigate the aspects of air pollution through the guiding and controlling measures put in place to ensure the living environment is secure and safe for humanity. It cherishes and champions the better living standards, which could allow easy and bearable survival without further risks.

Consequently, the quality of air and water for human consumption has been compromised especially based on the human activities going on around the globe. This comes as a result of emissions of toxic gases to the environment without proper filtration from manufacturing plants. The amount of carbon dioxide released to the atmosphere is on the increase each and every day hence, making the temperatures to escalate to greater degrees… “Carbon dioxide is widely considered to be a pollutant when associated with cars, planes, power plants, and other human activities that involve the burning of fossil fuels such as gasoline and natural gas. In the past 150 years, such activities have pumped enough carbon dioxide into the atmosphere to raise its levels higher than they have been for hundreds of thousands of years… (Benarie, 1982)”

This has made the world to experience the effect of global warming whereby the atmospheric temperatures are quite high beyond the normal ones. Equally, the aspect of global warming is reached at as the toxic emissions penetrate the ozone layer thus destroying it and as a result it paves way for ultra violet rays to the world, which is very harmful to all living organisms. The impact of the powerful ultra violet rays can be felt through the elements of desertification among others. The rays completely denature the normal functionality of living cells hence, making it problematic for both humans and vegetative cover to experience growth and development.

The concept of industrialization is the major contributory factors of atmospheric pollution. This is because as most industries are established the minimal mitigation measures put in place hence, toxic emissions left unnoticed to the atmosphere and in the long run the air is completely polluted. This is evident from the hanging smog in the skies of urban cities whereby the activities of industrialization are on the rise. This is the normal and obvious kind of air pollution experienced by most people around the globe but to some point some of the intoxication may be invisible (Holgate, 1999). For example, the nuclear gases released into the atmosphere may not be really visible but their impact in form of acidic rain will be felt greatly as it harms all living things. Actually, these are some of the non living contributors of air pollution through man's activities. The following are the non living factors, which could contribute to atmospheric pollution and some of these, may include;

Other greenhouse gases such as methane from swamps, livestock remains and chlorofluorocarbons equally contribute to the element of air pollution. Methane is one of the toxic gases, which tamper with the atmosphere hence, facilitating to air pollution thus the atmospheric pollution at the long run. 

Transport is also another challenge towards the issue of atmospheric pollution. This is reached at as the wind plays a very significant role in ferrying some light pollutants from one zone to the other hence, the effect of pollution based on emissions is experienced on the other far point of the atmosphere. Long range transport aspect becomes challenging and complicated as it becomes hard enough to control the pollution vectors as other could be from external sources under the transport process (Sokhi, 2011). It could be difficult to distinguish between the local contributors and the external ones hence, the resultant costs becoming problematic on who to incur and who is not to because of its complications.

Deposition is another contributing factor towards atmospheric pollution and it normally occurs when some of the materials are subjected into the atmosphere either in form of photosynthesis. Equally, other pollutants could be channeled back to earth through either precipitation or snow hence, resulting to atmospheric pollution at the long run… “Rain and snow carry atmospheric pollutants to Earth. Temperature inversions, like the conditions that caused London's Great Smog in 1952, occur when air near the Earth's surface is colder than air aloft. Cold air is heavier than warm air, so temperature inversions limit vertical mixing and trap pollutants near Earth's surface. Such conditions are often found at night and during the winter months…"

Aerosols are very significant towards atmospheric pollution especially based on theirradiative effects in the atmosphere. The particles scatter light once they interfere with the direction of light beams hence, contributing to the issue of invisibility within the atmosphere… "Aerosols absorb water, which causes them to swell and increases their cross-sectional area for scattering, creating haze…without aerosol pollution our visual range would typically be about 200 miles, but haze can reduce visibility significantly. High amount of aerosols within the atmosphere leads to cardiovascular diseases, which are as well considered as major contributors of cancer (Vallero, 2008). The presence of such particles within the atmosphere is very deadly especially to the human survival.

Notably, the following mitigation plans could be very potential in translating to long serving solutions over the problem. For instance, industrialized nations have tried their best to control and manage the air pollutants and their effects on the globe but it is quite unfortunate that the air safety is deteriorating especially in developing states. Air quality is not guaranteed based on the global circulation patterns, which tend to rapidly transport various forms of pollution across the world.

Equally, the policies put in place are meant for environmental sustainability towards alleviation and controlling of the possible air pollutants. For example, the Latino communities are facing the greatest and hardest challenges of dirty air, which has heavily impacted on the well-being of the environment. The public health is the major concern for EPA as it is conveyed in the functional policies. It allows the society to enhance and facilitate the healthful activities that could not tamper with the human health conditions.

Consequently, emissions control strategies could be of great help in handling the issue of atmospheric pollution. These strategies will govern and control various manufacturing industries and even public transport sector in order to be able to curb the air pollutants. For example, dump trucks be fully covered before exposed to the public sphere. Equally, the emissions from public service transport such as cars, planes among others should be mitigated by encouraging use of unleaded fuels in order to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is very vivid that the aspect of pollution has been a social problem over the recent decades and it is especially on both developed and developing nations. The issue of industrialization has made it hectic to curb the rising impacts of air pollution hence, calling for the global intervention for concrete and sound policies to govern and control the problem. Strategic mechanisms should be put in place to enhance and facilitate environmental safety without going through the tough moments of atmospheric pollution. For example, there various companies should be able to curb the reckless toxic emissions to the atmosphere through filter chambers, which could help break down the toxic compounds before released to the atmosphere.
