An Issues of Waste and Recycling

Categories: Recycling

Abstract

The Construction procedures usually produced huge amounts of waste materials that we should be ready to dispose it. There are many options to be used of reusing and recycling the construction waste. The reducing of the quantities of the construction waste is normally comes on priority, but at the end of the construction and completion of the project, amount of waste is disposed and accumulated in the garbage bins. The construction scope of works around the world is the largest consumer of resources, that is required and needed tones of material a year .

Big percentage of the waste comes from the construction and some of the materials delivered to construction sites are disposed without any used of it. A site waste management plan can be prepared describing and satisfying how to manage the construction waste materials with how to disposed legally during the construction and even after the completion of the works, and to put a plan how the re-use and recycling of the materials.

At the beginning of the project, the plan must estimate the quantities of each type of construction waste can be produced and the proportion of these materials that will be re-used or recycled on site, or removed from the site for re-use, recycling or disposal. At the end of the report, we focused on solutions that can help in construction waste disposal. Construction Waste management is an important issue that needs the attention of the governments immediately, the unprofessional practice used in your country to generate waste cannot only be harmful for us but they could be disastrous for our generations.

At present we need more awareness between people and more professional and educational staff to follow the steps in order for reduce waste and the benefits of the reusing and recycling it .Waste management practices can be different between country to other, and between residential and the producers. Management of non-hazardous waste and it is usually the responsibility of the local government authorities, while management for non-hazardous commercial and industrial waste is usually the responsibility of the producer s subject to local authorities. All of the people on this planet is responsible in reducing the waste and to start immediately to use the recycling products. Solid waste is the unneeded or useless solid materials generated from works at residential, industrial and commercial activities . It may be simplified as per its origin (domestic, industrial, commercial or construction or );according to its components (organic material, glass, metal, plastic paper etc); or according to danger potential (toxic, non-toxin, flammable, radioactive, infectious etc).Construction waste is one of the group of waste that generate from the activities within the construction site that needed solution , disposal of the construction waste is one of the processes at which the engineers or the construction companies struggled to get it solved by different ways such as :reuse , recycling and disposal. The report includes four sections: 1) methodology 2) the results of our report 3) discussion of results 4) our conclusions with recommendations.

Methodology To explain how the importance of disposal for the construction wastes can be used to Improve construction process economically, and must be applied in all the construction Processes for the problem to be marked and solved. Site inspection / through site visit, that is required to be on a practical study and to feel the construction waste physically and the importance to do a disposal.Throug the visit to one of the big construction site, one of the site engineers arranged tour around the site area and show us how is the management of the construction waste going on, he answered all the question with regards the materials usually we can reuse it or recycle and how this management of the waste can help in reduce the cost of the project .

Result

We have two solutions that we use to minimize the waste construction. The two solutions are as follows:

Need of waste management

Waste management is important, required and necessary because failure to do it may lead to environmental and health problems harmful for humanity and ecosystem. Our planet will be full of waste if we don't take care to recycle whatever we can and managed it in a proper way. The harmful will come later even if we don't notice that now and that will effect our generation and all the environment surround.

Concepts of Waste management

There are a number of concepts about waste management that may be differ in their usage between countries . Some of the most general, widely used concepts include: Waste hierarchy – The waste hierarchy refers to the "3 Rs" reduce, reuse and recycle, which classify waste management strategies according to their interesting to minimize the waste. The waste hierarchy is the main point of most waste minimization strategies are using. The aim of the waste hierarchy is to produce the maximum scientific benefits from products and to generate the minimum amount of waste .This strategy is very useful in waste management at which can save the ecosystem and humanity then to develop the regions and the planet , reducing or minimize the waste production is equal to the producing or maximizing the ability of positive production with healthy generation and ecosystem.

Waste reduction and reuse

The reduction and reuse of the waste is the only way to minimize the waste. The Encouragement of using the recycled materials can play a role in waste reduction due to its safety use and the economic. All the ways to reduce waste needs to be shared with all the people and governments throughout educational meetings, advertisement, media….etc. Waste reduction or even stop it is the preferred approach to waste management because the waste that never created doesn't have waste management costs and it will save the unnecessary cost to be spend on the other ways of development. An example of waste reduction is reducing the unnecessary packaging from the production lines. If this excess packaging can be avoided, then you will not find anyone to be concerned with the cost a of collecting the excess packaging, separating it for recycling, breaking it down, transporting it to manufacturers, and then include the recycled materials back into the manufacturing process. Waste reduction can help the benefits of the resources for future generations and assists to reach the goal of cleanly environment.

Conclusion with Recommendations

1. Urgent actions needed to be taken in order to eliminate waste to the environment. The following recommendations will help in reducing the waste construction. In buildings, builders should use the required amounts of materials as they needed but not more to avoid any unnecessary accumulation around the site which may cause delay in project process.

2. Following proper designs that were suggested by special sections in order to avoid waste with daily following for the procedure to make sure that the work is going on as per the studied plan and instructions; this will definitely reduce the construction waste and make the management waste more easily and smoothly.

3. Before demolition, owners should exchange, sell, or donate building useful materials to any other regional sections that they can use it and to get in replacement the materials can be sued in the new project , this way can reduced the construction waste .

4. Reading and knowing more on construction management is essential especially for constructors and engineers.

5. Marketing for non-waste-able supplies which can be used repeatedly, will reduce much waste.
