The authors of this article explained the three pillars of sustainability and how the education system uses sustainability to educate students to recognise and implement economic, social and environmental dimensions into their real life. The education providers are responsible to increase awareness and provide environmental knowledge to improve their thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills. The article explained that the economic dimension handles all wealth production by measuring income, consumption, and distribution. The social dimension is important to maintaining quality of life by improving living standards such as food, clothing, housing, etc.
The environmental dimensions are responsible for the quality of air, water and land. However, human activities and environment are impacting the national parks associated with tourism, and recreational activities. The article focuses on environmental-social conflict to maintain the ecological integrity of parks because it may direct or indirectly affects people’s interest in uses of parks for recreational. Through an analysis of finding, there are six conflicts and congruency about how to maintain parks which includes traditional uses of parks, wolf program, municipal district versus biosphere reserve, owners versus municipal, aboriginal interpretation versus tourism behaviour, and feeding of animals.
Throughout the environmental education, once the students understand the links between these three factors, they have the skills to make an informed and responsible decision. Sustainability food production is a method to determine food production and consumption which is nutritious and safer for communities as well as protects the environment. The social, economic and environmental dimensions are impacting on the agriculture food production, but it depends on the consumption and production.
Food is essential for survival, but the price can be a major issue for the economy. For example, advanced new technologies help to increase food production and reduce hunger. Nonetheless, food security has a significantly positive impact on economic growth and the reduction of poverty. In contrast, if the supply does not meet the requirements of food production thus the food price rise and affecting resources into food production. This is a relevant economic issue that can impact local communities, workers and consumers especially people from low-economic status. However, to maintain market power and effectiveness of food production; it is necessary to do more concentration on agricultural land and ways to grow food by using natural resources. The effectiveness of environmental education helps to keep the safety of workers, consumers and future generations.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Clune, W. H., & Zehnder, A. J. B. (2020).
The evolution of sustainability models, from descriptive, to strategic, to the three pillars frameworks for applied solutions. Sustainability science. 15, 1001-1006. https://doi.org/10.1007/s11625-019-00776-8 In this article, Clune & Zehnder discuss the three pillars of sustainability framework which have interconnected roles for the development of economic growth; using technology, laws and financial incentives. These pillars framework can be beneficial for translate complex issues for better understanding by thinking, planning and find useful solutions for deeper changes. The sustainability framework helps to identify the gaps and assist in introducing the necessary changes required at institutional, political and economic levels. The authors also express that intensive new technology, innovation, government’s laws and economic incentives play a greater role in successful project planning and economic growth. The sustainable economic development and solutions are necessary to work with all relevant stakeholders including consumers, public and government as well as other sectors such as NGO. The sustainable solution is effective when all three pillars working together to find a better solution. The authors provide a strong theoretical knowledge of environmental challenges. Poor consumption and production can lead to pollution and other pressure on the environment. Global environmental sustainability, critical thinking is necessary to maintain a balance between markets, economic growth, reducing carbon emissions and waste. The government and laws provide support to sustainability solutions by implementing new technologies, introducing new markets, and eco-friendly products. The new technologies and government laws put their initiative in food production. Globally, modern technology such as chemical fertilisers, pesticides, machinery has been used to increase food production. But it is clearly showing that modern production has a positive and negative impact on socio, economic and environmental levels.
Modern food production and consumption have a significant effect on the environmental pollution and well-being of the citizens which includes water pollution, soil biodiversity, energy, climate, and food safety. However, natural food production helps to prevent soil erosion, improve groundwater quality, save energy, reduce pollution and filter carbon dioxide by supplying fresh oxygen. On the other hand, modern technology has a positive effect on improves the processing and packaging. By using new techniques, drive down the cost, increase production and keeping food fresh. The government plays a greater role in the benefits of citizens by introducing food safety rules and regulations. The food safety regulations help the industry to distribute qualitative food where consumers can eat fresh and safe food. The government also increased the awareness of the public in avoiding food waste. It does not only waste the money or resources; it affects the environment by creating a greenhouse gas like methane which impacts on air quality and public health. So, the sustainability solutions are beneficial for food production but aware of the effectiveness.
